Doctors for Life: A Day of Precious Hope.

The day started like any other, only perhaps a little earlier, because the journey was a long one. Our intended destination: The Marie Stopes Clinic in Durban. Our mission: to deliver a message of hope. Our prayer was that the Lord should go before us and prepare the way, and as we passed the miles singing His praises, that is precisely what the Good Lord did.
The team, selected at the last minute, was a totally unmatched bunch, but we all had one thing in common; we wanted to bring a message of life and hope to all the people whom we should meet that day. As we were disembarking a member of the team noticed a young woman sitting on the sidewalk looking very distraught. Approaching her tentatively and greeting her with concern resulted in the counselor spending the next hour and a half, sitting on the pavement. Three hours later this young woman (GuGu) left for home, with a promise that she would reconsider aborting her child and three days later we received a call to say that she would keep her baby.
The rest of the team rounded the corner where they were confronted by the manager of the clinic (Nokwethemba) who was waiting outside in her car. She requested that we please move across the road as we were upsetting her clients and interrupting her business. Later she explained that she had experienced a very unpleasant and frightening encounter with a pro-life activist at the clinic where she had previously worked. We assured her that we were not there to protest or cause problems for her or her clientele. We were there to counsel the women who were seeking abortions, so as to enable them to make an informed choice. We came to suggest abortion alternatives and to offer assistance and support. We also wished to share with these women the message of forgiveness and salvation in Jesus Christ. On hearing this Nokwethemba invited us to come and talk to her about establishing a means by which she could refer clients to us who required abortion alternatives. Since that day four women have made the choice not to terminate their pregnancies. Four babies will be given life and be allowed to make their own choices as well as bring their own unique contributions to this world.
The Lord sent many people our way that day and He touched everyone including the team. I think many tears of joy have escaped their treasured cases and many hearts have since been inspired to try and make a difference.
With God on your side, precious hope abounds.
