Louis Green

I have sent you an e-mail previously asking for more information on you as a public figure and leader of the CDA. We would just want to know the basics like where you were born, schooled, grew up, your involvement in the church and politics and how it affects your family.
Why did the Christian parties perform so badly during the elections and what is the way forward for the CDA. Are we going to see one Christian party in the near future?
Thank you and God bless, E-Talker.

Pauline Cupido

You are the Provincial Leader of the ACDP in the Western Cape and also MPL. The ACDP and other Christian Parties did not perform to expectation during the April 2009 elections. Why?
The premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille, accused you of making deals with the ANC and COPE before the elections. Please make a statement about that.
What, if possible at all, is the ACDP going to do about the fact that the DA wants to remove Grant Haskins as Deputy Mayor.
Is there a possibility that we could see one united Christian party in the near future?
What can you tell us about Pauline as a Christian, politician and a person.
Thank you and God bless, E-Talker.

Cope like Jesus's donkey - Zuma

Carien du Plessis, Beeld

Polokwane - Those who have broken away from the ANC are like the donkey on which, according to the Bible, Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

Jacob Zuma, leader of the ANC, used this metaphor on Thursday when he addressed hundreds of Cosatu workers in a packed hall in Polokwane as part of his early election campaign in Limpopo.

He said there was a story in the Bible about a "lucky donkey" on whose back Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

"The people were waiting for the Son of Man who was on the donkey. The donkey did not understand it, and thought the songs of praise were for him," he said.

According to Zuma, the donkey later tried to return to Jerusalem on its own in order to once again experience that moment of glory, but the people chased it away.

In the same way the Congress of the People (Cope) leaders will find they are nothing without the ANC, Zuma said.

Snakeskin

He said the ANC should not only fight for a two-thirds majority, but for a "three-thirds majority".

This will enable the ANC to implement its policies more easily, Zuma said.

Zuma also compared Cope's leaders to snakeskin that remained behind after the winter, while the snake - the ANC - sailed away in its new skin.

The old skin may look like the snake, but it isn't the snake, Zuma said.

However, he added that the ANC should allow the dissidents back in should they change their minds and come knocking at the ANC's door again.

Cope claimed it wanted to protect the Constitution when, in fact, they wanted to amend it in order to change the electoral system, Zuma added.

US electoral system

He said Cope were asking for a direct presidential election, as in the US.

Zuma said Cope leaders were airing their problems in the media. They wanted to involve the whole of South Africa in the process and let the people make decisions about the president.

"The American system is different, because it is based on individualism. One man tells the people he is the best leader and we don't know if we can believe him or not."

Zuma said the Americans gave President George W Bush a mandate to govern them, "and you know what happened in the Middle East".

"Our democracy is based on collectivism. We know this person, what this person can do. It's not about an individual who says he thinks he knows himself and can do everything for you."

Christian Action- HELP EXPOSE THE TRUTH ABOUT PROSTITUTION IN THE MEDIA

The deceptive and morally reprehensible agenda to decriminalise prostitution in South Africa has a powerful ally in the secular liberal media establishment.

On Friday 15 May E-Newschannel Anchor Andrew Barnes conducted a 10 minute live interview with SWEAT representative Eric Harper on decriminalising prostitution in SA.

Tragically, the entire interview was overtly sympathetic to SWEAT’s views on prostitution.

More worrying however, was the deliberate exclusion of an alternative viewpoint being expressed on an issue of critical importance to all South Africans.

Eric Harper was allowed to attack those who opposed the decriminalisation of prostitution with impunity referring to them as “knee jerk moralizers” and “having their heads in the sand”.

A recent survey revealed that 79% of South Africans oppose decriminalised prostitution.

Errol Naidoo (Family Policy Institute) immediately sent an e-mail to E-Newschannel challenging their biased reporting which essentially amounted to censorship of the views of the vast majority of SA citizens.

Ten minutes later he received a telephone call inviting him to participate in a live debate from their C.T. studios with Vivienne Lalu of SWEAT. (Ms Lalu was already in their JHB studios).

As it turned out, E-Newschannel arranged two separate interviews with SWEAT on the same day without bothering to invite a single representative to express an opposing viewpoint.

The live debate at 7:30pm on Friday 15 May was clearly biased in favour of SWEAT. Errol was interrogated about the integrity of my research, while Ms Lalu’s claims were accepted without question. This is clearly a violation of the journalistic code of ethics.

The print media are no better. 80% of the reporting on the SA Law Reform Commissions Discussion Paper on Adult Prostitution contained comments from SWEAT or organisations in favour of decriminalisation while a few paragraphs are provided for an opposing viewpoint.

We appeal to the Christian Media in South Africa to expose the blackout of the truth about prostitution by regularly broadcasting interviews and debates on this critical issue.

The Daily Telegraph reported (18 May) that ILLEGAL brothels are exploding across Sydney amid accusations all levels of government are doing little to drive them out of business.

It's been claimed "tough" new laws have failed to prevent unprotected sex, slavery and corruption. An investigation by The Daily Telegraph has revealed illegal brothels and escort services outnumber licensed establishments by four to one and the gap is growing.

Click here to read the full article on the website

This is happening despite prostitution being legalised in Australia. Remarkably, this is the same argument SWEAT uses to advance its theory that decriminalisation will solve our problems.

South Africa’s liberal media refuses to acknowledge and report on the hundreds of warnings emanating from across the world about the dangers of global sex trafficking including the explosion of child prostitution and organised crime in nations that legalised prostitution.

Decriminalising prostitution will throw open the doors to pimps and gangs & will remove barriers to crime syndicates & international sex traffickers to operate with impunity in SA.

As a result of widespread media bias, we need your help to get our message heard across the nation that decriminalising prostitution in SA is the equivalent of national social suicide.

HELP WIN THE WAR OF WORLDVIEWS - WHAT YOU CAN DO:

· The Family Policy Institute has compiled a fact-based summary of key points detailing the dangers of decriminalising prostitution in South Africa. Please request this document at info@familypolicyinstitute.org.

· Make copies of this summary and distribute it to your home group/Bible Study, congregation and colleagues.

· Use this fact-based summary for Letters to the Editor and radio phone-ins!

Please pass on this information to every Christian or Christian organisation you know.

Has the DA or Zille got issues with Christianity?

Tomorrow is Assention Day. It reminds me of a Cape town Council meeting I was previledge to be invited to. The mayor, Helen Zille, said something about Christian having enough holidays and Christians wanting more. The tone of her voice was that of somebody very upset. Upset about what? Later I got the information that one of the councillors asked her if she could reschedule the meetings on Assention day to a later date, not declare a national holiday.
The last past weeks I read in the papers about the fact that the Zille does not want the ACDP as part of her provincial government. Her reasons for doing this do not sound very credible.
Now the DA wants to get rid of the Deputy Mayor, who happens to be an ACDP member without any credible reason. Christians, open your eyes.
You have voted for a party that agrees to abortions, homosexual marriages, etc. (Both the ANC and the DA). When you vote for a party you agree with there policies. You have voted against God's Word. Please rise up and take your rightful place. I am not promoting a specific Christian Party but I am promotion Christian Government. Unfortuanately you will not get it by voting for the ANC, DA, UDM, ID and even COPE.

CHRISTIAN ACTION- SEXPO OUTREACH

“Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for Me against the workers of iniquity?” Psalm 94:16

When a “Sexpo” was advertised to take place in the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) for the second year in a row, the Christian Action Network launched a campaign to expose and oppose this. Through a vigorous letters to the editor campaign and complaints sent to the Advertising Standards Authority, letters to Acting Mayor Grant Haskin, many phone calls, e-mailings and radio programmes, Taryn Hodgson and Dr. Peter Hammond alerted Christians in Cape Town and sought to mobilise opposition to this outrageous event.

By God's grace, the heavy downpour of rain stopped for most of the duration of the placard demonstration.

Newspapers reported how outraged citizens had defaced a lewd Sexpo billboard on the N2 near the Cape Town airport. Other streetlight Sexpo posters were torn down or had pro-family stickers placed on them. All over town bumper stickers declared: Real men don’t use porn; Pornography ruins a mind, and other pro-family slogans in Afrikaans and Xhosa.

In answer to prayer, this year Sexpo organisers were not allowed to have lewd images on their streetlight posters. Last year, the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that Sexpo advertisements used in Durban were unacceptable because they "reinforce a stereotype that women, especially provocatively dressed women, primarily serve as 'eye-candy' and should only be regarded as valuable for their sexual potential" and that "the only area of her body focused on effectively reduces her to a sexual object."

On Friday 15 May the Christian Action Network held a placard protest, prayer vigil, literature distribution and personal evangelism outreach at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Demonstrators held placards declaring: Porn exploits women; Porn is the theory – rape is the practice; Pornography fuels crime; Women are not objects; Sexpo = gateway to perversion; Child sexual offenders have ALL used child pornography; Women need protection and respect – ban porn! Execute rapists! and “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36.

In addition to the placard protest and prayer vigil, missionaries of Waymakers and Frontline Fellowship engaged in vigorous literature distribution and personal evangelism of customers entering and exiting the Sexpo and journalists reporting on the protest.

The placard protest attracted much media attention - with news coverage on SABC and e-TV news. Photographs and prominent articles were published in Die Burger and The Weekend Argus. Radio KFM and Radio Tygerberg came and conducted spot interviews with protestors and evangelists at the CTICC. Taryn conducted a total of 15 interviews with the media, and continues to receive invitations from magazines to deal with the subject.

The protestors and evangelists came under some pressure from the CTICC security officials who insisted that they move away from the main entrance to the CTICC. We informed them that we most certainly had a constitutional right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the right to protest. They insisted that we were not allowed to be near the entrance. Taryn reminded them that if there are under 15 people (by that stage some of the protesters had split up) then it cannot be considered an official "gathering" according to the Regulation of Gatherings Act. We pointed out that in fact no one was trespassing inside the Convention Centre. We reminded the police that distribution of Gospel literature falls under freedom of religion, and is a constitutional right.

By God’s grace, many hundreds of leaflets warning of the dangers of porn addiction (and giving the Biblical solutions) and Gospel tracts were handed to Sexpo visitors and many evangelistic conversations resulted.

Gail Gregoriades from Livingstone Fellowship spent over 20 minutes sharing her testimony and answering questions and objections about Christianity with a tourist from Switzerland. He left saying he will seriously think about making a commitment to Christ.

After being interviewed by a reporter, Brendon Schafer from Frontline Fellowship asked the reporter if he could ask her a few questions, most importantly, "Where will you spend eternity?". A lively Gospel conversation ensued with the atheist journalist.

Pinelands Baptist Church was allowed by the Sexpo organisers to have a free stall inside the event. They handed out copies of the Biblical book "Songs of Songs" and distributed flyers inviting couples to a marriage enrichment course run at their church. Several couples who visited the Sexpo signed up for the course.

ACDP- ISSUES IN FOCUS - Traditional leaders

The ACDP supports the institution of traditional leadership and their system of government for the rural areas provided that the system does not violate our Christian values.

We do so because we share certain fundamental values. Together we believe in the promotion of traditional family values, culture, social coherence and national identity. However, we disagree with the institution in some respects, for example where the institution denies women a right to succession and property rights.

The ACDP believe that when the institution is intact we will hear less of crime in the rural areas. We will hear less of housebreakings, thefts, murders and rapes that have become so prevalent in these areas.

We cannot as we often do, talk about the need to promote the use of indigenous knowledge, arts and culture, promotion of African languages and cultural tourism and at the same time destroy or undermine an institution that is the custodian and reservoir of these values.

The ACDP has called for the freedom of the institution from government control that has marred it since colonial times and apartheid. This democratic government must refrain from following the ugly path of the past governments of manipulating the institution for party political purposes.

The ACDP calls for a complete restoration of the institution because of its inherent value to the lives of many South Africans.

Lastly we call upon the traditional leaders themselves to desist from participating in party politics whilst at the same time serving as traditional leaders as this dual role in our view is repugnant to the duty of traditional leaders of uniting their subjects.

ACDP- ISSUES IN FOCUS - Age of sexual consent

ISSUES IN FOCUS - Age of sexual consent

Lowering the age of sexual consent

There is evidence of a worldwide effort to lower the age when a child can legally give consent for intercourse with an adult. This desire to gain access to children has resulted in many intense legislative struggles in Western Nations and South Africa is no exception.

The ACDP was the only party to sound the alarm, alerting the public to legislation to reduce the age of sexual consent and permit sexual experimentation. In terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Amendment Bill, children between the ages of 12 and 16 years are permitted to engage in sexual experimentation with partners also below the age of 16. The age of consent for homosexual relations has been lowered from 19 to 16 years, for both genders.

"Teenage years are fraught with emotional conflict as the transition from child to adult is made and our children need to be protected and guided, rather than encouraged to participate in homosexual and heterosexual sexual experimentation, with possible life-threatening consequences," says ACDP MP Steve Swart.

"Whilst not being oblivious to the fact that many children are sexually active, it is utterly outrageous that 12 to 16 year olds, most of whom will not have reached puberty, should legally be able to give their consent to older children who want to exploit them sexually.

"Although most homosexual activists publicly deny that they want access to boys, many homosexual groups around the world are working aggressively to lower the age of consent," Steve said.

"The ACDP believes that sexual relations should be celebrated within the institution of marriage. We are concerned about what girls and boys are being taught by culture at large. The media and loveLife campaigns in schools encourage sexual experimentation and with such legislation in place, parents will not easily be able to prevent the sexual exploitation of their children.

"This amendment must be seen against the background of the abortion legislation allowing abortions for girls over the age of 12 without parental consent as well as the proposed Child Bill which will allow contraceptives to be given to children over the age of 12, also without parental consent. This latter Bill will also criminalise parental corporal punishment.

"These laws are all seen as an attack on the family and erode parental responsibility," Steve said.

Besides concerns about children contracting HIV/Aids, the vulnerable immature reproductive system of adolescent girls is at risk of being prematurely damaged by prematurely engaging in sexual activity. According to reports, teenage promiscuity can increase a girl's vulnerability to cancer by as much as five times.

"We believe that the answer to the HIV/Aids epidemic lies in promoting abstinence and faithfulness to one's spouse. This was the successful approach adopted in Uganda," Steve says.

"Should this battle be lost in South Africa, the whole of Africa will be open to the possibility of such legislation.

ACDP- Religion in Education Policy

Religion in Education Policy
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Education's Religion in Education policy should be of concern for every family in South Africa. The policy has serious implications for every parent with school-going children and for South Africa as a whole. On date, the Education Department Religion in Education policy.
WHAT THE ACDP HAD TO SAY:
The Religion in Education policy undermines the role of parents and reduces religious beliefs to nothing more than a state-prescribed school subject with little relevance, while humanism, a recognised religion, is unashamedly promoted throughout the entire curriculum.
A multi-faith religious instruction programme compiled by the state is now compulsory and examinable in both public and private institutions, regardless of the community, teachers, parents and children. This is an outright attack on diversity and people's right to their beliefs.
After coming under heavy pressure, the department has made several changes to the original draft and "single religion" observances will be permitted only if they take place outside of the context of a school assembly. If a school decides to incorporate religious observances into assemblies, it must take into account the religious groupings in the school. Schools could choose to hold separate assemblies for each group or if this is not possible, multi-faith or no observances are the options.
The department claims that school governing bodies still decide how to implement policy, but only within the framework set by the ministry. The SA Schools Act states the functions of governing bodies, but effectively gives them no power. The authority given by the constitution for rules regarding religious observances to be made by "the appropriate public authorities" (s15.2.a), is presently interpreted by academics and the government to mean "the department" and not the governing body, as so often assumed by many. As the 'public authority', the department sets the rules for religion observances and schools - governing bodies and parents are expected to comply.
The department justifies its multi-faith Religion in Education policy by quoting the constitutional right of equality, which allows "fair discrimination" in favour of people who are seen to have been previously disadvantaged. The government sees Christians as the previously advantaged group against which "fair discrimination" is now a necessity. Government has been en route to this juncture since the signing of the Constitution and policy and legislation since then have been preparing the way. Christians who oppose government's agenda are seen as bigots and labelled intolerant, while Minister Asmal proudly makes good on his promise to ensure that no learner is ever again "indoctrinated" with Christianity.
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
Sadly this comes as no surprise to the ACDP, which pointed out some of these issues at the time the constitution was drafted. We were the only party to vote against the Constitution on these and other moral grounds.
The ACDP is committed to a policy that empowers parents and schools governing bodies to decide on the religious ethos of a school. If a multi-faith ethos is the decision of the community then so be it, but if not, it should not be imposed. Parents, without a doubt, should choose the education they want for their children without state interference.
As bleak as this picture may seem, it is still possible for Christians, who are in the majority in South Africa to stop the assault on our freedoms. There is no better time for Christians to unite and turn the tide by electing a government of God-fearing men and women committed to biblical principles.
The question is not whether religion should influence politics, but whose religion and morality is shaping our politics and nation.
POINTS OF THE POLICY:
• Schools must have a policy that reflects the multi-religious nature of the country, not just the school, taking into consideration that the religious composition of a school can change from
• Religious observances at school must accommodate multiple religions. For example at school assemblies, 'neutral' prayers or rotating readings and observances from various religions is advised. Outside of school assembly, single-faith observances are theoretically allowed provided they allow voluntary attendance.
• Religion Education will be a compulsory, examinable subject as part of the curriculum for all schools, including private schools and public schools on private property.
• External invited religious workers are not allowed to regularly present religious instruction, unless they are also qualified teachers. Others may come as occasional guests
• Public schools, except those on private land, are not allowed to have a religious ethos
• Teachers must be trained in agnostic comparative religion A teacher's freedom to promote his or her faith is restrict

CDA Alliance partners

ALLIANCE PARTNERS
ACT - ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

ACT was formed out of a desire to see Christian politics play itself out at community level thereby bringing real change to the communties themselves. It is a firm rooted ACT belief that transformation of our nation needs to happen at grass roots level rather than simply at a national legislative level.

The Party is firmly grounded on Biblical principles and holds an uncompromising stance that this is the only road to proper governance based in servanthood.

Committed to a federal system of governance, ACT focuses much of its action on empowering local community leaders so that change can be driven by local needs and desires.
FD - FEDERATION OF DEMOCRATS

The FD was originally established in the Western Cape and has since grown to be a force across the nation. With unwavering Biblical principles as it's cornerstone, it has one end in mind - governance under God.

The FD believes it is time for communities to take a stand and that for too long we have allowed decisions to be made on our behalf by people who care only for themselves.

They remain steadfast in that what is needed are people of strong moral character and integrity to take up office. People who truly understand the needs of the people and are committed to delivery not personal self gain. See Website.
CDP - CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The Christian Democratic Party was registered on the 9th September 1999 and has taken part in various elections and by-elections, and presently has Councillors in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Council as well as the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.

Although initially based in the Gauteng region, it has grown to have a presence across the nation.

The CDP is one of the founding and members and initiators of what is today the CDA.
It is firmly based on Biblical principles and operates on a federal leadership structure.
PCP - PARTY FOR CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES

Originating out of the Free State, The Party for Christian pricniples was estabished to provide a viable Christian alternative for voters in the Free State province.

It is a party finding its origins in deep Christian academic thought and is committed to taking each step on clear Biblical principle, and also providing the nation with clear uncompromising direction.

Recognising the need for Christians to unite, the PCP had no hestitation in joining the alliance, in order to provide a unified political voice for the nation.
CP - CHRISTIAN PARTY

The Christian Party was founded in September 2005 by Louis Marneweck and was registered in October 2005 with the Independent Electoral Commission as a political party. The party is registered as a National party in terms of the electoral legislation which qualifies it to participate in all elections for the National Assembly, all Provincial Parliaments and all municipalities. The party is currently represented in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. As a Christian Party, they don’t align themselves with any secular political ideology (democratic, conservative, liberal or African) whatsoever.
The CP has a vote agreement with the CDA whereby all CDA members will vote CP for regional and provincial ballots in Mpumalanga and all CP voters will vote CDA on the national ballot.
PDP - PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Under the current presidency of Puleng Mpokotho, the PDP was formed primarily as a party that would focus on the needs and aspirations of youth, which are largely ignored by other parties.

They have a clear manifesto of youth development focusing on education, poverty and financial empowerment. Recognising the failure of the Youth Parliament and the National Youth Commission to constructively engage and develop the potential of our youth, the party was formed in 2007 to address these shortfalls.
They carry widespread support across South Africa and between all cultural and language groups. Recognising the need to base their programme on Biblical principals, the CDA was identified as the Party that could assist in meeting these ideals.

CDA- ACT AGAINST ILLEGAL ABORTIONS

Illegal abortionists have mushroomed in cities all over South Africa. For as little as R200, illegal abortionists are touting their services quite openly.
What has shocked authorities is that these practitioners offer to provide "safe abortions" for pregnancies up to seven months. Even in the case of legal abortions, no woman who is over 12 weeks pregnant can demand to have an abortion.
The “doctors”, who advertise on lampposts and building walls, or whose employees hand out flyers to people on the streets, mostly operate under the guise of ‘professional herbalists’. The few who advertise as “doctors” only give out their first names and cell phone numbers and they do not say where they operate from until one makes an appointment.
The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) said the fact that the names of the “doctors” were only written as “Dr Cure” or “Dr Liezel” was a clear indication they were not registered with any organisation as the full details were not given – including their registration numbers or the premises from where they operated.
Only qualified medical practitioners are allowed to carry out abortions. Women are risking their lives by going to these unsanitary, unqualified "doctors". The HPCSA said it had no jurisdiction over "bogus practitioners" and anyone "masquerading" as a medical practitioner must be reported to the police.
The council added that operating without the registration of the relevant regulatory authority was a criminal act.
WHAT YOU MUST DO:
1. Advise your local CDA office or contact our national office on national.office@cda.org.za
2. Report these abortionists to the Department of Health and to your local police. Take along a copy of one of their adverts. Fax copies of the advertisements to the National Department of Health and to your provincial health department.
National Department of Health: 012 - 312 0000
Western Cape: 021 483 3245
Eastern Cape: 040- 609 3776 or 0800 0323 64
Kwazulunatal: 0800 005133
Freestate:051 - 4081273
Northern Cape: 053 – 830 2000

If the doctor is not registered with the Health Professions Council and if the facilities do not meet the requirements of the Abortion Amendment Act (section 2 - i.e. they have to have emergency resuscitation equipment, be able to call ambulances, meet sanitary requirements) then they are illegal. It is unlikely that the “doctor” is registered, but you can phone the Health Professions Council on 012-3389441 to check.
3. Tear the posters down. Unless these abortionists have municipal clearance, they are advertising illegally.
4. If you can’t tear them down, stick one of our pro-life bumper stickers over the contact details.
5. Order the Crisis Pregnancy poster (R2 each), which can be placed on hospital, school, church and community notice boards. This poster is designed for women facing unplanned pregnancies and contains contact details of Africa Cares for Life - the umbrella body of Crisis Pregnancy Centres in South Africa.
6. Urge your local community newspaper and radio station to expose these abortionists, interview pro-life groups and to provide the contact numbers of Crisis Pregnancy Centres.
7. Obtain pro-life DVDs such as God’s Miracle of Life or Abortion: The Real Story to educate your congregation or school on the right to life.
8. Begin now to mobilise your congregation to observe Sanctity Life Sunday and the National Day of Repentance (1 February 2009).

CP Policy- ENVIRONMENTAL

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
INTRODUCTION
The following theological perspective taken from “This is God's Earth” adopted by SACC & Church Representatives on 19 June 2002 in preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) forms the basis of the Christian Party’s view of the environment:
“A Christian understanding of social struggles and development must begin with an affirmation that this is God’s earth and all we seek to do in, with and to it, should be done out of this recognition. This means that all human life, and all living things, including the earth and its bounty, is a gift from God and is to be cherished, respected and enjoyed, and any right to private property must be circumscribed by this recognition of God’s fundamental ownership of all things. “
South Africa is a country blessed with natural resources. It is the third richest country in the world in terms of its diversity of life and it is the only nation that has an entire plant kingdom within its borders. Our seas have a higher habitat and ecosystem diversity than the rest of the world as they cover 5 major marine bio-geographical regions. It is therefore clear that a great responsibility rest upon us to protect this heritage for not only ourselves but for future generations and all of humanity.
“Our commitment is to sustainable communities that live and develop, by caring for , nurturing and sustaining the people of the earth and the earth which belongs to God, and which God has given us for our sustenance.”
The Christian Part firmly upholds the belief that the environment is an integral part of our lives given to us by God to care for. It provides us with the natural resources necessary for life.
Our vision of the environment is one in which there is greater environmental justice, where there is greater equity in the usage of our natural resources and poor communities are no longer subjected to industrial pollution. The Christian Party subscribes to the core environmental values on the in the UN Millennium Declaration of September 2000 and the Millennium Development Goals and Targets.
We are challenged by our stewardship of the earth to be engaged in maintaining a better environment for all. In the past, however, environmental policy was drawn up in isolation of other socio-economic challenges facing our country. Contrary to popular perceptions, the economy is a sub-set of the environment and not the other way round.
The Christian Party’s environmental policy rests on the following pillars:
• Climate Change
• Governance
• Water management
• Sewage Management
• Natural environment and biodiversity
• Energy
• Air Quality
• Waste management

Agriculture Policy/CP/2008 Page 2
CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing the world and in a South African context is predicted to destroy half of our rich biodiversity, increase our water scarcity and threaten low lying areas such as the Cape Flats with sea water intrusion. South Africa cannot respond to the challenges of climate change by simply doing nothing. The Christian Party will focus numerous actions which will include the following:
• Education of our communities;
• Research to determine the possible climatic effects ;
• Improvements in energy efficiency;
• Improved building techniques;
• Lowering the carbon footprint of individuals, municipalities, industry and organisations;
• Identification of areas for carbon sequestration.

Measures that must be taken to mitigate the effects include:
• Improve the efficiency of our water infrastructure;
• Improve the productivity of our water usage ;
• Implement more rigorous planning for extreme weather events;
• Possibly introduce changes in our working hours to reduce electricity demands;
• Investigate alternative energy sources i.e. solar power in order to reduce our dependence fossil fuels.

GOVERNANCE
The Cabinet portfolio of Environmental Affairs has traditionally been viewed as a soft ministry, which has enjoyed very low priority within the cabinet cluster. It has therefore not enjoyed the importance or budgetary resources that the other ministries have with the result that a largely reactive approach has been taken to environmental issues in South Africa.
The Christian Party will elevate the portfolio of Environmental Affairs to ensure that it is well funded and resourced to really make an impact across all other spheres of government. The Department will be responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and oversight of the National Sustainable Development Strategy.
The Christian Party will create the Office of the Ombudsman for the Environment, which will have the necessary powers and budget to act in all instances against abuse by government, private sector and individuals.
The Christian Party will improve checks and balances and institute legislation ensuring that all MEC’s responsible for economic planning are held responsible for environmental management as well.
The Christian Party will institute Special Environmental Courts with the same jurisdiction as supreme courts to adjudicate on any environmental crimes and offences. The role of the “Green Scorpions” will be enhanced to be effective in investigating all environmental crimes and offences.
WATER MANAGEMENT
The Christian Party has long been recognised as one the South African parties which are unwavering in our fight for better management of our water resources. The government has failed dismally in this regard. We have seen numerous outbreaks of waterborne diseases threatening people as well as wildlife, like crocodiles.
Agriculture Policy/CP/2008 Page 3
Since creation, God has created a certain amount of water which is in constant circulation to provide life to the earth and its inhabitants. This can never increase but man can decrease the available water supply through his activities! Statistics indicate that as much as 60% of water is unfit for human consumption.
We recognise that South Africa is a water scarce country and that we need to enact all measures possible to ensure that we conserve this resource properly. South Africa is currently in the midst of a water crisis – something which the government seems to be in a state of denial over. Our water quality has declined considerably due mainly to pollution from mines, industrial activity, inadequate sewerage treatment and inefficient water purification.
To combat the scourge of pollution the Christian Party will institute the following measures:
• The current schizophrenic approach by government of the management of water and environment in South Africa will be revised. For example, the current situation of individual departments approving a mining licence, a water licence and an Environmental Impact Assessment respectively must be revisited. A holistic approach is vital to ensure sustainable management of our resources.
• Decisions effecting the environment and communities should be made at Provincial level by those directly affected. In the past, provinces often had little input and had to live with the consequences of poor decisions.
• The Christian Party would ensure proper environmental compliance on the part of mining companies. Mines will be held responsible for treating water before it is released into our rivers.
• Prospecting and mining licences will only be granted in areas of the country where the effect of mining operations will have minimal impact on water systems.
• The Christian Party would ensure that all disused mines are rehabilitated so that they do not continue to pollute the environment. We will ensure that the companies responsible are held liable for such rehabilitation measures.
• Any future mining developments will be subject to strict environmental compliance to stem the tide of a destructive environmental legacy that mining has wrought on our eco systems.
• Industries will be held responsible for all rehabilitation measures when found responsible for any pollution of our water resources. The tragic example of the heavy metal pollution in the Oliphant’s river system that led to high crocodile mortality in Loskop Dam and Kruger National Park serves as an example. Companies should be forced to undertake annual environmental audits which should be published with their financial statements.
• No mining or heavy industrial activities will be allowed in sensitive areas like the lake-land districts in Mpumalanga. The majority of the South African rivers originate in this area.
• The pollution of our natural water resources by municipalities will be stopped by ensuring proper budgeting oversight to ensure sufficient funding for rehabilitation, maintenance and operating of sewerage works and purification plants.
• The development of a Water Quality Index as a measurement tool of Local Government management. The Christian Party will ensure that water quality data is regularly published by municipalities and a provincial hotline is established to allow citizens to alert officials to local problems. Performance bonuses of municipal management will be determined by the Water Quality Index.
• Strict enforcement of legislation and regulations must be maintained. All water users will be licensed, and heavy penalties for contravention of usage rights must be enforced.
• Ecological reserves for all river systems should be re-determined and strict enforcement of compliance guaranteed.
• Non cultivation zones must be identified on river systems to combat the silting effect on river courses.
• Greater demand side management must to be implemented.

Agriculture Policy/CP/2008 Page 4
SEWAGE
This is one of the biggest threats to the health of our nation. The constant threat of cholera in rural areas and the outbreaks of cholera in Mpumalanga and Limpopo bear testimony to this:
• The Christian Party will ensure that the atrocious neglect of the sewage works be rectified and that severe penalties be inflicted on any municipality and its officials who pollute our rivers and dams with sewage.
• The Christian Party believes that the current system of dealing with sewerage is desperately outdated and that new ground-breaking thinking is required to solve the problem.
• The Christian Party would look at installing biogas digesters in municipal sewerage works which can treat waste while providing fertilizer and a clean energy source.
• The current waterborne sewage system leads to a situation, where roughly 30% of household water usage is used for the purpose of flushing away human waste.
• The Christian Party would therefore consider wherever possible implementing other means of getting rid of human waste like compost toilets. This is especially necessary in many rural areas where there is a shortage of running water and sanitation. The human waste run-off creates ideal conditions for cholera and typhoid.

NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND BIODIVERSITY
South Africa is one of the world’s most important areas of biodiversity. The Christian Party will protect these areas to ensure their continued existence by:
• Promoting the tourism potential of the areas and thereby increasing the sustainability of the areas;
• By not allowing mining under any circumstances in any national or provincial park or within coastal public property;
• Clearly stipulating that not all land is suitable for development of any nature;
• Ensure adequate funding for research that benefits our natural heritage;
• Ensure ongoing workshops around the country to empower communities, NGOs and local councillors with the knowledge required to understand and contribute to environmental management;
• Making local communities aware of the income potential in the various areas and ensuring that they benefit from conservation;
• Ensure sufficient funding for our national parks and reserves to enable them to continue conserving our natural heritage;
• Ensuring the accessibility and affordability of our reserves and parks to our local tourists.

ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
A degraded environment limits possibilities for all of us. Yet, although our natural environment is unique and valuable, its contribution to our economy and our lives is often ignored in favour of short-term special interests.
The Christian Party will integrate the sound management of our environment and energy economy into all our policies. Human development will be integrally linked to environmental preservation by, for example, expanding access to alternative energy sources, protecting our sites of natural value, strictly controlling water use.
Agriculture Policy/CP/2008 Page 5
ENERGY
The Christian Party will reduce Eskom’s monopoly in the electricity generation sector by allowing options for alternative energy generation and usage. The Christian Party will make it possible by allowing any electricity producer access to the national grid. Any consumer who generates energy from alternative technology will be allowed to sell excess electricity to the national grid.
The Christian Party will aim to generate between 10-15% of energy from alternative sources by 2020.This will be done to decrease our dependence on coal fired power stations, to further decrease our electricity consumption and the negative effect on the Mpumalanga environment we will introduce a “Pitt Tax” on every ton of coal transported via road. Coal transported via rail won’t attract the tax.
There will also be a levy charged on every Kwh of electricity used outside Mpumalanga; this will generate funding for the protection of the environment.
Other energy sources will become more viable as the cost of the rigorous enforcement of environmental laws, particularly related to mining, water and air quality will serve to increasingly internalise energy costs.
To further encourage this, the Christian Party will:
• Subject all energy generation sources to the rigours of long term planning
• Introduce tariff support and incentives for the uptake of renewable energy.
• Ensure that 800,000 domestic solar water heaters are installed by 2020
• Make increased usage of alternative energy a national priority.

South Africa is currently the 14th biggest contributor of greenhouse gasses responsible for global climate change in the world.
The Christian Party will implement measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions that are predominantly caused by the burning of coal for electricity generation. We must achieve this, through increasing our energy efficiency and supporting the growth of renewable energy technologies.
AIR QUALITY
The Christian Party believes that air pollution is one of our most pressing environmental problems. The government has failed to act in a timely and effective manner in addressing the concerns of communities who live in the pollution hotspots of South Africa.
The Air Quality Management Act has been passed by parliament in 2004 but has not been enforced to bring polluters to book. The Christian Party would ensure that the constitutional right to a healthy environment is given absolute priority and ensure that the three spheres of government co-ordinate all efforts to identify transgressors and prosecute to the full extent of the law.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
The huge waste stream in South Africa needs to be urgently addressed as many of our major cities are running out of landfill space. Recycling must be encouraged by instituting a “User pays” principle for all waste generation from household to industrial levels.
The Christian Party will endeavour to transform our current economic growth model so that we gradually move to an economy in which there is zero waste and all resources are being utilized at a rate at which they can be sustainably replenished.
RECYCLING
The majority of recycling activities in South Africa are carried out by unemployed people who use waste as a way of creating sustainable livelihoods for themselves. It is important that this environmental service is recognised and that these activities are legitimised and that the prices that people are paid for these
Agriculture Policy/CP/2008 Page 6
recycled materials are subsidised. This subsidisation should be directly correlated to the amount of money that local authorities save by having these materials kept out of landfill sites.
CONCLUSION
The Christian Party believes that by giving priority to environmental issues, the principles of equity and justice need to be taken into account as, in most cases, it is the poor who are being denied access to natural resources and their constitutional right to a safe environment violated.
We should be vigilant in our oversight to curb the phenomenon of government corruption as environmental standards have been conveniently ignored in order to fast track industrial and elite developments.
To build a South Africa that is able to sustain our growing population we must ensure the following:
• Equitable access to clean water;
• Land that is able to support agriculture;
• Air that is free of pollutants that are detrimental to our health.

ACDP ISSUES IN FOCUS - Abortion

"Hear the word I speak and give them warning from me…when I say to a wicked man, you will surely die, and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood…but if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his evil ways, he will die…but you will have saved yourself" (Ezekiel 3:17-19).

More than two hundred and eighty thousand abortions have been performed in South Africa since 1997. Taxpayers' money is used to fund and promote abortion even though most surveys indicate that the majority of South Africans are opposed to it and alternatives to abortion, like motherhood and adoption are not a priority.

Three times as many innocent lives are taken through abortion than are taken by criminals, and statistics, reveal that abortions after 12 weeks account for almost one third of abortions in South Africa. Sources at Philadelphia Hospital (Mpumalanga) report over 60%.

Twenty four days after conception a babies heart begins to beat, by six weeks brain waves can be recorded and by eight weeks every organ is present. By twelve weeks a baby is a distinct individual, sensitive to touch, it squints, swallows, frowns, smiles, urinates and begins practicing breathing.

Traumatised hospital staff must carry the tiny bodies (often making little noises), in paper bags to incinerators and some are left to drown in buckets.

The need for legal abortion is promoted by Government, Abortion Funders and lobby groups, as saving women's lives and back street abortion figures are quoted. The truth is, back street abortion figures have hardly dropped since abortion was legalised, and abortions have simply increased by more than 280 000.

MP's on the Health Committee say "Women want abortion", we say "women want abortion like animals caught in a painful trap want to gnaw off their own limbs". They need help to get free and to heal not to dismember their own bodies, leaving them crippled for life.

As the law stands a child of any age can get an abortion without parental consent or knowledge and husbands risk seven years imprisonment if they try to prevent their wife from having an abortion.

The sex education syllabus in schools requires educators to display abortion clinic details so that students can access them confidentially.

"Population control" permeates international policies and legislation and is particularly evident in Africa where "sustainable development" has become the catch phrase. Eighty-two cents out of every global US dollar, funding "sustainable development" in Africa, is in fact spent on abortion.

Vast amounts of global finance, fund the promotion and implementation of abortion on demand and every other avenue of "birth control" including indiscriminate and inappropriate condom supplies.

loveLife, for example, funded by Planned Parenthood, Kaiser Foundation, Bill Gates and government, works diligently, to capture the imaginations of South African teens, targeting 12 to 17 year olds, with the message that "parents do not understand you", "sex outside of marriage is OK" and "experiment".

At the same time they have succeeded in capturing the minds and pockets of the media, businesses, teachers and even some church organisations.

Licentious and deviant sexual behaviour is not only tolerated, but also encouraged, and taught in and outside of schools.

loveLife"s budget is presently R200 million, and they are working hard at soliciting an further 200 million from government and other sources. At a loveLife clinic in KZN 10 days ago, a Methodist Minister passionately pleaded with MP's to see that loveLife clinics have abortion facilities.

Sadly and shamefully South Africa is callously murdering her unborn children, flooding homes with every kind of debauchery, teaching children to disrespect authority, betray their own bodies, embrace homosexuality and aspire to prostitution.

The ACDP calls on all South Africans to recognise the insidious enemy, thriving in our midst, and rally to eradicate it. This enemy, protected by legislation, murders unborn children in broad daylight, pollutes the minds of the youth, and cripples society, all with the approval and encouragement of government and even some churches.

IT IS TIME FOR WAR… a war on injustice and iniquity…since "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places"(Ephesiansh 6:12) …we have gathered together today not only to warn men and women and the present government to turn from their wicked ways, but to declare war on principalities and powers.

ACA Issues - Changing of Street Names

Huise
Tshwane of enige ander stede / dorpe regoor Suid Afrika instel.
dieselfde basis soos bogenoemde.
Die African Christian Alliance - Afrikaner Christen Alliansie (ACA) sal enige aksie /
proses teen die straatnaamveranderinge wat regoor Suid Afrika plaasvind,
ondersteun.

Background of the UCDP

Background
To understand why the United Democratic Party (UCDP) under Kgosi Lucas Manyane Mangope should be in power we need to look at the history of the man and his party.

As the ruling party in Bophuthatswana, the UCDP defied all the critics by merging as fabulously successful young country with no relative equal on the African continent.

This is in stark to what has become of the North West Province since the current administration assumes control after the 1994 election.

Standards and service delivery across the board have sunk to deplorable levels, with a little hope of any improvement while the current government remains in power.

By contrast we take a brief look at the history and achievement of Bophuthatswana under the leadership of Kgosi Lucas Mangope.

The United Christian Democratic Party has its roots carved out of the rock and bush of in Africa.

It is the belief of the UCDP that the church on earth is man’s response to the divine command that his children should be nurtured in the love and knowledge of God.

Every individual and every nation has the right to expect to be accepted into the brotherhood of man in dignity and love.

Discrimination in any form against any individual or nation based on race, ethnicity or skin colour was, is, and will always be regarded as entirely wrong in the eyes of the UCDP.

During the first decade in the since the independence the erstwhile Bophuthatswana has develop to a remarkable degree and this is borne out the growth of many towns and villages.

The expansions of schools, hospitals, clinics, rural roads, aerodrome, housing, water supplies, and electricity were a further testimony to this growth.

Conclusion

Every person has a story to tell, a story about his life experience. This is always unique for no two individuals can ever have the same life experience.

There are old nations and new nations; small nations and big nations; strong nations and weak nations; wealthy nations and poor nations; nations at war within their own communities, where civil strife has become a way of life, and nations at peace, where stability and security bring prosperity and mutual understanding. Ambition fans the flames of dissention in some nations while goodwill ministers to the aspirations of the people in other, making their future a bastion of hope. Each nation has it's own identity...

One of these nations was Bophuthatswana. The country, under the leadership of Kgosi Lucas Manyane Mangope, had a remarkable record as it nutured and developed, the aspirations and the mobilisation of the country's human, economic and infrastructural resources into a dynamic and viable society.

Kgosi Mangope put it succinctly when he said of his vision: "To win a place in the sun for my people, not only means for the Batswana, but for all the balck people of South Africa".

Mission and Vision of the UCDP

Vision

The vision of the UCDP is to be the leading party in uniting all South Africans, Christians, and non-Christians alike, in truly democratic, non-racial and non-sexist partnership inspired by the desire to work together in diverse society in building a prosperous and free nation.

Mission

The UCDP commits itself to:

Undo the hardship Of all South African by creating a conducive environment that also induces personal and individual initiative for meaningful development, to take lead in eradicating poverty, and addressing unemployment, homelessness, disease, crime and other political socio-economic ills of our country.
Offer the people of South Africa a solid foundation based on Christian principles with a clear and unequivocal mission to raise and maintain the quality of life of all citizen and effect good governance.
Unlock develop and employ both human and material resources in areas of great needs in partnership with civil society, in the most equitable non-discriminatory and just in improving the quality of life of all citizens of our country.
And to foster and protect all Christian family values.

African Christian Alliance-Change for the Good

"Change for the Good"

The world keeps on changing – So, we must change to survive in our own environment. It’s not too late to change our course. We can still make a huge huge difference.

When you change, change for the best and the good. Repent your life 180 degrees. (if you are moving to the wrong direction) Yes, together we can work to a better future. Lets take all the hands possible as South African Christians and together we can build a positive and better future for ourselves and our children.

Measure our progress by the Word and Will of God. For the ACA God ‘s priorities is first and then South Africa and all the people.

Background of the CP

The party was founded in September 2005 by Louis Marneweck and was registered in October 2005 with the Independent Electoral Commission as a political party. The party is registered as a National party in terms of the electoral legislation which qualifies it to participate in all elections for the National Assembly, all Provincial Parliaments and all municipalities. The party is currently represented in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. Our National Office is situated in Standerton with a parliamentary office in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature and a Constituency Office in Standerton.

The logo of the Christian Party contains the fish symbol which the first Christians used to identify themselves to other Christians and the world. As the Christian Party, we don’t align ourselves with any secular political ideology (democratic, conservative, liberal or African) whatsoever because all glory must go to Jesus Christ our Saviour. Soli Deo Gloria!

We believe that when we follow the teachings and example of Christ and implement it in our daily life and government, we won’t need any other ideology. In other words, we are followers and disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. We don’t want to be known by any name other than "Christian."

Acts 11:22b "And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians."

Christian Party. Welcome note on Website

Welcome ...

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the Christian Party Website.

We hope that you will experience the joy that we experienced when we realized our dream of having our own website through which we can communicate with you and share the vision, which we have received for South Africa and its people.

We are a political party with a difference ... We are, first of all, a ministry and thereafter a political party. We exist to glorify God, to be a blessing to the body of Christ and to make Him known within this nation. We are not a secular party that only focusses on obtaining power to rule the country. We have a prophetic duty to be salt and light in the world and also to be sowers and witnesses.

We also have a duty to fulfill the Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:19-20:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We trust that you will find that God still has a purpose for each and everyone of us in South Africa and that you will get involved in spreading the Good News by being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

God bless!

History of the ACDP

Our History

The need for a credible alternative to the divisive politics of the past, prompted Christians from diverse backgrounds to launch a new political party in December 1993 and so the African Christian Democratic Party was established exactly a hundred days prior to South Africa's first democratic elections in 1994.

With the concept of multi party democracy in the air, Christians from all over the Republic recognised the need for a party that would not only represent Bible believing Christians, but also those who have a high regard for moral values.

The ACDP has taken as its platform the biblical standard of reconciliation, justice, compassion, tolerance, peace and the sanctity of life, the individual, the family and community. It proposes to direct the political debate towards these issues and to unite people around the common values, instead of focusing on ideological, historical and racial differences.

During that first election in 1994, the ACDP surprised many people by securing 2 seats in National Government and 3 in Provincial Government.

Being the smallest of the seven parties then in National Government, the ACDP was the ONLY party to vote against the adoption of the South African Constitution.

A year later, the ACDP took part in the Local Government Elections in only a few of the municipalities. The party only won 3 seats. However during the next 5 years, 4 councillors from other political parties crossed the floor to join the ACDP.

In 1999 many critics believed that the ACDP would lose one of the two seats it had in National Parliament. To the contrary, the ACDP trippled it's representation and became the 5th largest party in parliament with 7 parliamentarians. For the fist time the Party won a seat on the National Council of Provinces. Provincially the Party added another representative to now have members in 4 different legislatures.

The greatest growth that the ACDP has ever experienced was during the 2000 Local Government Elections. With an increase from 7 councillors to more than 70 nationally, the ACDP proved once again that it is here to stay. In two of the five Metro's the ACDP is the third largest party, and in the Venda local council the ACDP is the official opposition.

ACDP slogans:
1994 General Election: "Protect your family's future"
1995 Local Government Election: "Protect your family's future"
1999 General Election: "Bringing order to the Nation"
2000 Local Government Election: "Real Hope, Real Care" 2004 General Election: "Real Hope for the Nation"

About the ACDP

ABOUT US

South Africa is a beautiful and diverse country with great potential for growth and prosperity. Yet many South Africans feel despondent about problems such as crime, unemployment and HIV/Aids.

As a fast growing party in the country, the ACDP offers a fresh start based on Christian and family values. We are determined to address issues such as education, unemployment, health care, security and poverty, based on proven successful policies. We aim to rebuild the foundation of the nation by protecting families from the destructive effects of gambling, prostitution, pornography and abortion.

We are committed to rooting out corruption and creating accountable leaders that do not compromise their principles but serve with integrity, wisdom and accountability.

Your vote is given to a political party to represent YOU and make decisions on YOUR BEHALF. You can help transform South Africa by supporting the ACDP.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CDA AND OTHERS CHRISTIAN PARTIES?

We often get asked the question, “What is the difference between yourselves and the ACDP?”, and will try and answer this briefly here, without getting into too much detail but rather dealing with the two core issues.

With regard to external policy, Christian voters will find very little difference between the two parties. Our policies on economics, justice and so on are broadly the same, and this is to be expected between parties that are Biblically based.

Below are therefore the three core differences as we see them, and we hope they help you make an informed decision.

1) Our policy implementation

The CDA membership comes from a broad spectrum of backgrounds both socially and politically. Many of our leaders and members were stalwarts in the struggle against apartheid and formed part of the core leadership of many other political organisations.

These members having been convicted by God to place their efforts behind Biblically based government, joined Christian parties, but brought with them a wealth of experience and knowledge.

We are therefore to a large degree, not born out of the Church, but based in the Church, born out of the streets, the reality of politics and governance. We have formed, not carrying any theological baggage or particular theological flavour, such as was typical of Christian parties standing on their own.

Voters will therefore find that, although our broad policies are similar, that we have a distinctive methodology and implementation strategy that is born out of various realities. In other words, we understand the aspirations and dreams of all the people of South Africans, are in touch with their historical background and are therefore more capable of applying the principles we believe in, in a tangible and realistic manner.

2) Our commitment to unity

This issue speaks for itself. The CDA was formed with the specific intention of bringing Christians into unity politically. We are committed to this cause and see this not as a once off effort, but as an ongoing process of uniting the Body of Christ.

The manner in which the alliance came together, with the various leaders, humbling themselves and placing the goals of the Alliance above their own personal or party goals has been confirmation that we are headed in the right direction.

Those who have opted to rather continue on their own obviously do not carry this same desire.

3) Our leadership and management structure

The CDA has a federal leadership and management structure. Essentially, this means that leadership structures at every level are federally constituted. There is no single leader at any level but rather a revolving chairman and all members of the leadership structure are equal.

This prevents any single person from dictating to others, but also allows us to have consensus on issues, as well as make use of collective wisdom.

Additionally, the system prevents anyone from interfering in the selection of candidates or leadership at any other level of the party. This issue has been the largest contributor to dissatisfaction in all other parties and the CDA has ensured that we do not repeat the mistakes of others.

Although this might seem a minor issue, our management within the party, is a reflection of our custodianship. It is the measure of how well we care for our members, as well as the mandate and purpose of the party.

God promises that is we are faithful with little, we will be entrusted with much. Our federal system ensures that we will be faithful no matter how many members come on board.

If you had to recommend a Church to a friend – both having the same theology and mission statement. Which do you recommend? The one with the healthy, vibrant and participative leadership structure. Simply because the internal operations are equally important.
